It is a variety of Vanilla Planifolia (the same species is grown in Madagascar under the name Bourbon). Hand-picked first class Ugandan vanilla beans are characterized by a unique earthy aroma with notes reminiscent of a mixture of figs, milk chocolate, raisins and a full rich taste.

The Vanilla has higher vanillin content which favors it among many ice cream producers, bakers, chocolatiers, confectioners or hobby-bakers and producers of beverages, syrups and beer.
